How to choose truck brake pads? The old truck driver said he wanted to choose the soft one!

Brake pad is an essential part of vehicle braking system, no matter what model it is! In the field of commercial vehicles, the vast majority of drum brakes and a small amount of disc brakes are used in the domestic market, but their working principle is the same!

Brake pads are made of many specific anti-wear materials. It must not only provide enough friction during vehicle braking, but also ensure a certain softness. (the soft and hard mentioned here are only relative!)

If the surface hardness of the brake pad is hard, the friction it can produce will be reduced accordingly, and the braking force it can produce will be reduced accordingly, that is to say, the hardness of the brake pad is directly proportional to the braking force it can produce! In this way, it can be understood that the softer the patch, the greater the braking force and the better the braking efficiency!

The function of the brake pad is to use its own wear resistance to generate friction with the brake shoe or brake drum when the vehicle needs to slow down or stop, so as to provide sufficient friction to reduce the speed, so as to achieve the purpose of vehicle braking or deceleration!

The greater the braking force provided by the brake master cylinder to each brake wheel cylinder, the greater the friction between the face and the brake drum or brake disc! Similarly, the braking force is directly proportional to the braking effect. The greater the braking force, the better the braking effect!

Will the softness and hardness of the patch affect other braking components? As mentioned earlier, the softer the dough, the greater the braking force it can provide, and the better the braking efficiency! It is easy to understand that the harder the surface, the lower the braking efficiency it can provide. Once the braking efficiency is not reached, you can only continue braking within the same braking distance to achieve the expected braking effect!

The soft patch can effectively shorten the braking process. In this way, the problem arises. Frequent braking will cause the braking parts to heat up and high temperature. Whether it is the brake drum or the brake disc, in this case, it will be scabbed or cracked due to long-term high temperature. At this time, the braking effect will be worse!

No matter drum brake or disc brake, we all know the reaction caused by high temperature... After talking so much, I think all truck friends should understand and understand how to choose dough. The normal market price difference between soft dough and harder dough is not much. Therefore, from the perspective of safety performance, it is recommended to choose the soft one!
